If you are recovering after oral surgery, it’s very important to take the healing process seriously. Our dentist, Dr. Jean-Max Jean-Pierre, would like to help you recover with a list of things you need to do.

-Rest as much as possible. In fact, it’s important to rest for one to three days after treatment. Your dentist will recommend the appropriate amount of time to rest after your appointment.

-You may need to avoid brushing for the first 24 hours. This is recommended because the mouth is still very sensitive after treatment. If you needed, rinse your mouth with water.

-If directed ice, the area as prescribed. This can help reduce pain and swelling. Make sure to ice in increments of 20 minutes.

-Avoid eating hard or hot foods as well. as using a straw. The dentist will talk to you about your post-operative diet.

-Make sure to drink plenty of liquid. It’s important to stay hydrated and nourished while you recover.

-Take the pain medications recommended and prescribed by your dentist. This can help you have an easier recovery.
